Red Ribbon Week

Upper School News

Red Ribbon Week exists to raise awareness of the killing and destruction cause by drugs in America. The Upper School has been participating in Red Ribbon Week for several years. It is a very important week to spread awareness of drug and alcohol use and abuse. It is an incredibly crucial issue among teens, and it is only growing as new methods are making drug use easier and more dangerous than ever. It is also very important for us to remain understanding of students who may be struggling with drug and alcohol use because there are many factors and pressures that may contribute to this.

In Landy Hall, there is a drug free pledge tree where students can place their fingerprint if they pledge to remain drug free. Students are encouraged to wear red on Friday, and one lucky student wearing red will win an Amazon gift card. Red Ribbon Week at Shorecrest culminates with a cakewalk on Friday during Upper School Community Time. The winner of this musical-chairs-style game, Lucas Murphy, received a delectable dessert!
