You and your children may have noticed some positive physical changes around campus since the last day of the 2018-19 school year. Some of the changes are immediately visible, while others function behind the scenes.

The recently completed playscapes and greenspace in front of our newest building, Charger Commons, are a hit with the Lower School students.

Our athletic teams are enjoying the newly resurfaced Haskell track, our Middle School students are learning in updated classrooms with new furniture and our art enthusiasts will use new multimedia (sound, lighting, etc) updates in the Janet Root Theatre and Lobby area.

These are just a few of the improvements made possible by the Shorecrest Annual Fund and the Transform Campaign. These funds embody Shorecrest’s mission to educate students to become socially responsible, service-minded, lifelong learners. Though the Annual Fund and Transform exist as two separate funds they both complement our community.

As a result of the ongoing construction of Charger Commons and renovations to the Haskell Library / Admissions Center / Janet Root Theatre Lobby, you may notice certain donor plaques, bricks and other naming signage around our campus have been removed in preparation for their move to a more permanent location and the installation of new donor recognition areas.

Since tuition does not fully cover the school’s operational costs, the success of the Annual Fund is crucial in providing students and teachers with the resources to enrich the full Shorecrest experience for all students. To see a full list of 2018-19 Annual Fund provided enhancements click here for a full campus map.

This year, the Transform Campaign focuses on the necessary completion of the second floor of Charger Commons. Driving past Charger Commons in carline, families are saying that the campus has never looked better! Each phase of the ongoing construction adds excitement and possibilities. But the immediate focus to rise up and finish the second floor is worth the reminder that Transform is far from complete.

Some of the most exciting academic spaces - two new libraries and media centers, a new Student Activity Center and Lower School Art, Music, and Spanish - have yet to be realized. Many families are very excited about the expanded student support through The Learning Center's proposed expansion. The fundraising to pay for these plans continues.

Because both of these funds are equally important, it will take the full community participating in both to make the campus completion possible. We must sustain our gifts to the Annual Fund; we must also support Transform. They are two funds, supporting one mission.

Over the course of these early months of the school year, you will hear more about our Two Funds. One Mission. efforts. This is a pivotal year to sustain the Shorecrest Annual Fund and finish Transform. When we make a gift to Shorecrest, we are really just a giving to each other. Our community - our children - are counting on us!
