Spanish Club and GSI combine efforts
On February 4, 2020, Mr. Omer Troyer, Chairman of the NGO Hope Extended, visited Shorecrest to be interviewed by Lucas Murphy ‘20 and Asher Rovin ‘20 as part of their GSI project on orphans in Ecuador. To show appreciation for their work in Ecuador, the Shorecrest Spanish Club donated $1000 to the Hope Extended orphanage “Casa de Fe” in Shell, Ecuador. The money was raised through the Spanish Club’s efforts in selling used textbooks on Amazon. Mr. Troyer greatly appreciated this donation that will allow the continuation of their work in the orphanage.
In addition to his interview, Mr. Troyer met with students, GSI Director Kurt Wahlgren, and Director of Service Learning Diego Duran-Medina, and was given a tour of Shorecrest by Headmaster Mike Murphy. Mr Troyer said he was impressed with the culture of the school and the inquisitive minds of the students.
Thank you, Mr. Troyer, for taking the time to come visit us and sharing your passion and experiences with Chargers.
