Essays in the Time of COVID: Acing the College Personal Statement

Upper School News

What images define you? How do you make a positive, fast, first impression?

With volunteer and standardized testing opportunities limited for students due to COVID, one particular part of the college application process - the personal statement - will bear more weight toward helping college admissions committees see the fuller, impactful, and unique YOU that you are. This summer workshop will focus on helping you brainstorm, draft, and revise this important piece of writing to come away with a Common App Personal Statement.

According to Common App, "Each year, more than 1 million students apply to more than 900 Common App member colleges worldwide."* In a week, learn how to make your writing stand out among these 1 million students. Using an individualized approach that considers your learning style and your college ambitions, Upper School English Teacher Natalie Updike will help you develop your college application personal statement from whatever shape it is in currently.
