Homecoming 2021 [Videos and Photos]

Homecoming is more than a dance, more than an assembly, more than a football game. It is a time for Chargers to build memories and spirit! Homecoming at Shorecrest is a week-long celebration and Upper School tradition that includes class competitions, costumed spirit days, a varsity football game, a dance, and more.

On October 5, the 2021 Homecoming Court was announced during an Upper School assembly. The Homecoming Court is selected by the senior class. Congratulations to the following members of the Class of 2022:

Mr. Spirit Court: Luke Bernstein, Michael Canizares, John Elwyn, Duncan Walsh and Jack Zikmund.

Homecoming Queen Court: Lizzie Camp, Sabrina Aboud, Skyler Broome, Stella Pagano, Emily Forney and Brooke Wright.

Homecoming festivities are a rite of passage for Shorecrest Upper School students, and 2021 included:

On Monday, October 11, and Tuesday, October 12, the Upper School students had dress up days (Seasons Day photos and Toy Box Tuesday photos). Costumes were judged during morning Break to earn points for each grade. Each class created a banner (also judged), and they are hanging in the Athletic Center.

On Wednesday, Homecoming Week took a break for the 10th and 11th grade PSAT.

Thursday was Upper School Class Competitions all day! 9th-12th grade students experienced a fun day of events like Powder Puff Football, Cheerleading, Slip-n-Slide Kickball, Volleyball and Brainbowl. View photos here.

After a Thursday of spirited class competition, the school came together as Chargers on Friday, for Green and Gold Day. At a pep rally, Upper School celebrated fall athletic teams and the winning class of Homecoming was revealed.

At 5:30pm on Friday, Chargers Alumni had a Homecoming Tailgate & Athletic Hall of Fame Reception in the Wood Family Pavilion. Before watching the Chargers take on Academy of the Lakes, alumni, alumni parents and friends enjoyed music, food and fun while reminiscing about Shorecrest! [Photos]

Members of the Classes of 1980 and 1981 celebrated reunions that weekend with the Alumni Tailgate on Friday and a happy hour at The Big Catch at Salt Creek on Saturday.

The Homecoming Football Game kickoff against the Academy at The Lakes was at 7pm at Haskell Field. All community members were invited to attend. Boosted by a spirited crowd, the Chargers made an outstanding performance and dominated the line of scrimmage. The game ended with a 61-7 win! [Photos from the game.]

During the Homecoming football game, the 2020-2021 inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame were honored (delayed celebration due to the pandemic) -- Fred Rath '91, Zach Wendkos '02, Chrissy Mastry Michels '06 and Taylor Tremaine '07!

The crowning of the Homecoming Queen and Mr. Spirit took place during half-time. Congratulations to Mr. Spirit Duncan Walsh and Homecoming Queen Stella Pagano!

On Saturday, Upper School students enjoyed the glow-in-the-dark themed Homecoming Dance outside Charger Commons.
