Contributing Chargers: Watson Grandparents

This week the Shorecrest Advancement Office would like to recognize the grandparents of Ethan Bekurs ‘24, Karen and Bill Watson, as Contributing Chargers. As grandparents, Karen and Bill connect with the Shorecrest community all the way from Baton Rouge, LA, through their generosity to the Shorecrest Fund. With their donation this year, they included this note.
“We are the grandparents of Ethan Bekurs ‘24, a tenth grader. Ethan attended many schools before moving to Tampa due to his father being in the military. While many of the previous schools offered him an excellent education, Shorecrest has proven to be an exceptional choice. Ethan has flourished academically, but more importantly, he has found his niche. Despite the pandemic restrictions, he has had the opportunity to spread his wings with musical theatre, Thespians and band. He has made many friends and all of his friends are wonderfully polite and inspiring young people.
In addition, even though Ethan started at Shorecrest when he was in seventh grade, we finally had the opportunity to visit in the spring of this year for the production of “Something Rotten.” We were very impressed with the campus, the theatre, as well as the faculty and staff. “Something Rotten” was a high-quality production with a talented cast of actors, actresses, choreographers and singers.
We are grateful to have our grandson as part of the Shorecrest community and family.”
The Grandparent Council’s mission is to encourage grandparent support and volunteerism at Shorecrest. With the collaboration of Shorecrest Grandparents, we can better support people and programs at Shorecrest this year. The impact of Contributing Chargers like Karen and Bill Watson and the members of the Grandparent Council, can be felt every day.
