Chargers at PhilMUN 2024
Fourteen Shorecrest Upper School students charged into the Philadelphia Model United Nations (PhilMUN) Conference with great courage!
Model UN is a geopolitical simulation where students are assigned a role as a delegate of a given country and are tasked with representing that country’s positions and arguments on a topic of global importance. The Conference, a special kind of debate competition that places students into the shoes of global negotiators whose decisions affect everything from armed conflict and nuclear weaponry to economic sanctions and trade agreements, took place February 22-25 in Old City, Philadelphia. PhilMUN is characterized by its in-depth topic briefs and goals of educating, empowering, and engaging students. The theme of PhilMUN 2024 centered around Examining Post-Colonial Challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Chargers who attended were armed with knowledge and excellent rhetorical abilities. Congratulations to Eve Bonnemort '25, who won Most Improved Delegate at the Conference!
