Chargers selected for Florida Olympic Development Program
Ashlyn B. ‘29 and Lili Scoby ‘25 have been selected for the Florida Olympic Development Program team to represent their age groups for the state of Florida. The Florida Girls Team for age 16 selected 18 girls this year, including Lili. The Florida Girls Team for age 13 selected 35 girls this year, including Ashlyn.
The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.
The program starts by making the Florida team, then being selected for the Southeast Region Camp, and finally the National Camp. Throughout the year, Region and National teams play at tournaments held in the US and Internationally. Last year Lili was selected to play in the final selection team for the Southeast Region Team.
Congratulations Chargers on being selected from a very competitive pool in one of the top 4 soccer states in the country!
