Holidays Around the World

Shorecrest second graders are embracing the holiday spirit with a global twist this year. Students researched holidays around the world and gathered information such as: 

• When it's celebrated
• Why it's celebrated
• How it's celebrated at home
• How it's celebrated in the community
• Related foods eaten
• Traditions

After conducting research by reading books and having lessons on how to responsibly conduct online research with Ms. Deegan, Lower School Technology Coordinator, students created their first Google Slides presentation -- one of many they will create over the years at Shorecrest. To share ideas of what a finished presentation might look like, third graders visited and presented their holiday slideshows from last year. This gave the third graders an opportunity to shine and practice their presentation skills too. The students were able to honor diverse traditions that make the holiday season - and the rest of the year - so special.
