Sixth Graders Design Hundertwasser-Inspired Haunted Houses
Sixth graders created a multimedia haunted house inspired by artist and architect Friedenscreich Hundertwasser. Hundertwasser was an Austrian artist and architect known for his imaginative expression with his use of bold colors, patterns and organic shapes. Furthermore, as an architect Hundertwasser disliked straight lines, opting to work outside the traditional rules of modern architecture. He created very decorative, dreamy and fanciful structures.
Utilizing their knowledge of perspective and color theory (warm and cool colors, tints and tones, and complementary colors) the sixth graders created spooky haunted houses out of oil pastels and watercolor. They are currently on display in the sixth grade hallway. Come take a gallery walk!
