Nickolas Bearden '25 Scores 1000th Point - Basketball Update

Nick BeardenThe Shorecrest Chargers Boys Varsity Basketball team recently beat Admiral Farragut: 44-36. During the game, Nickolas Bearden '25 scored 17 points - bringing his Shorecrest total up to 1000 points! Nick has been a starter for three years. He plays Point Guard, Swing Guard and Small Forward. Nick is the leading scorer on the team and typically averages 22.5 points / game but more recently has been averaging 26.5 points / game! Nick is also an integral team member for the Varsity Football Chargers who have won the State Championship the last 3 consecutive seasons. 

"Nickolas is such a nice young man as well," said Nancy Spencer, Head of School. "A great student-athlete and excellent representative of Shorecrest." 

It was the last home regular season game for Senior Luke Heckert '24 and Cem Eralp '24. Both seniors played and contributed to the team win - Cem with his general floor skills and Luke added his energy, effort and rebounding. Enrique Negron added 13 points to the game.

The Chargers also completed a double header weekend by beating Northside Christian on Friday and Indian Rocks on Saturday:

Varsity Boys Basketball vs. Northside Christian: 40-39 Win!
The Chargers jumped out to a 12-point lead. Northside worked their way back to take a 1 point lead with 11.5 seconds left in the game. Ahmad Crumity '25 received an inbound pass from Nick Bearden '25 and immediately passed the ball back to Nick. Nick dribbled two times, shot and made a 3-pointer with 4.5 seconds left on the clock to win the game! Overall, Nick lead the the team with 26 points and Enrique Negron '25 added 6 points. 

Varsity Boys Basketball vs. Indian Rocks: 63-53 Win!
The Chargers lead the game from start to finish. Nickolas Bearden '25 had 31points and Cem Eralp '24 added 8 points.

JV Basketball vs. Northside Christian: 3-54 Loss.
It was a great game considering the Chargers were without 3 players - 2 of whom are starters. There was a huge 3-pointer scored by Sheron Cooper '26 to tie the game up late in the 4th quarter.
