AgileThought Sponsors Middle School in FIRST® Lego League Challenge
AgileThought—a national provider of enterprise custom software solutions and development consulting to Fortune 1000 clients—will be sponsoring Shorecrest Preparatory School’s robotics club as they compete in the FIRST® Lego League Florida state competition on Saturday, April 6, 2019, in Delray Beach, Florida.
The FIRST® Lego League state competition will gather 48 teams from around the state of Florida to solve a real-world challenge using STEM concepts. This year’s international challenge, “Into Orbit,” will have three parts: core values, robotics and the project.
Teams will use the FIRST® core values to guide them through each phase of the competition. For the robotics portion of the challenge, teams will have a limited amount of time to program an autonomous robot to solve a series of problems. The third part of the challenge, the project, encourages students to identify problems astronauts may face during long-term space exploration and propose a solution. The Shorecrest team will present their final solution—a lymphatic massage suit designed to improve the flow of lymph fluids throughout the body—to a panel of judges. In addition to the state competition, the team was nominated for a Global Innovation Award and is competing for a spot in the finals in California.
“From programming robots to solving real-world space exploration challenges, it’s incredibly impressive to see what these bright young minds have accomplished through Shorecrest and FIRST® Lego League,” said Steven Granese, the Vice President of the Transform Practice at AgileThought. “We’re thrilled to support this competition and to help mold the next generation of problem-solvers, innovators and leaders—and we’re especially proud of the Shorecrest team’s passion and commitment to this competition.”
FIRST® Lego League is an organization with international competitions that challenge kids to think like scientists and engineers to solve real-world problems. Valuing teamwork and imaginative thinking above all else, participating teams must collaborate and brainstorm to present solutions to different tasks.
