World Language Awards

The Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese officially revealed the 2016 National Spanish Exams results. Our Upper School students of Spanish performed very well despite the rigors of the online examinations. The examinations were administered this past March and our students have been anticipating the results. The National Spanish Exams are used to determine student achievement and proficiency and are also a valuable tool in guiding curriculum. For the purposes of fair testing, students were assigned different categories depending on their exposure to the Spanish language. There are three categories: Regular classroom experience (most students), outside classroom experience and bilingual. Our students placed in all categories, gold, silver and bronze and were recognized at a recent assembly in front of the student body and faculty. Honorable mention awards were presented in class due to a time restraint at the assembly.

Our gold medal winners may also have placed first, second or third in the State of Florida, or nationally, but these results will not be revealed until later, perhaps late in June.
