The seventh Grade Music Performance was held this week in the Janet Root Theatre. Songs varied from war time favorites, such as “Chattanooga Choo Choo”, “I Got Rhythm”, “(There’ll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover” to popular songs selected to coincide with the Eurovision Song Contest held on Saturday in Stockholm, Sweden. The latter were, “Believe” by previous Russian winner Dima Bilan and “Chiquitita” by previous Swedish winners, ABBA.
Each year the Eurovision Song Contest draws nearly 300 million viewers worldwide as 42 countries battle it out with original, non-published music. The Seventh grade students have enjoyed learning more about music and culture in other countries as they followed the highlights from the Eurovision broadcasts.
