SWIM & DIVE CONQUERS CITY CHAMPIONSHIP MEET

Upper School News

The Shorecrest Chargers Swim and Dive team opened up the City of St. Petersburg Championship Meet on Friday evening with double wins in the diving competition. Sophie E ’19 and Dominic H ‘19 both scored first place points to give the team an edge going into the swimming competition on Saturday. Not only do we think they are awesome, but a few colleges think they are too… Congratulations to these hard-working individuals on this impressive accomplishment.

The swimming competition for the meet took place on Saturday, and Shorecrest came out as the combined overall winner! The girls contributed their runners-up 470 points to the boys winning score of 436 to take the City Championship!

Coach Patty said, “I am so proud of the team for staying on course despite the Homecoming festivities!”

Leading the boys team was Caleb K. who broke two city records. The first was in the 200 IM with a 1:55.36 and the other in the 500 Free with a 4:32.80. These are incredibly fast swims for this point in the season! Also named City Champions were the boys of the 400 Free Relay team (Joseph B., Michael L., Misha M. and Caleb K.).

The girls scored all of the points on depth and were able to win two of the three relays! The 200 Free Relay (Claire E., Shannon R. , Ainsley B. and Reagan Q.) and the 400 Free (Taylor E., Claire E., Emery C. and Sarah L.) were both City Champs.
