Upper School News

The Cross Country Chargers have continued to train and race well over the last two weeks. Running in the biggest race of the season, the FLRunners Invitational, the runners were up against some big competition.

In the boys race, there were 39 teams and 309 runners on the starting line. Although the boys were missing a few of their runners, the team pulled together and ran well. Alex W, Cian M, and Sebastian H were our top three finishers.

On the girls side, there were 28 teams and 224 runners. The top three runners for the Chargers were Sabrina A, Isabelle S, and Lili S. Isabelle finished 13th and Lili finished 10th, helping the girls to a Fifth place team finish.

The next race for the Chargers was the City Championship on October 3. Going against both private and public schools, the Chargers boys and girls teams ran their best races of the season with many of the runners reaching new personal records! All of the girls finished in the top 25, with Sabrina A. finishing seventh, Lili S. finishing sixth, and Iasbelle S. finishing second overall in a field of 51 runners. As a team, the Lady Chargers finished Runner-Up in the City Championships!

Top three on the boys team were Greg G, Aidan S, and Sebastian H, helping to lead the team to a Sixth place finish in the field of 12 teams.

The Cross Country team celebrated their seniors on Friday, October 5.

Coming up: the Chargers will run their last race on October 19 at the CCC Invitational before heading to the District meet on October 24 in Bradenton.
