Shorecrest's Battle of the Books 2015

Twenty-seven fifth graders took the Qualifying Test for Battle of the Books, answering questions about authors and subject matter from a selction of books beyond their grade's reading level. The top 15 scorers went on to compete in our Shorecrest Battle of the Books competition. Five of our top competitors will face other independent/private schools at the Battle of the Books next Wednesday, May 6, as Team Shorecrest!

To determine who would challenge other schools, we had a Battle of the Books in the Janet Root Theatre on April 28th. Team Gold, Team Green and Team Bolt competed against one another to covet the title of Team Shorecrest. It was a nail-biting hour of intense rivalry, and was peppered with great sportsmanship, positive attitudes, solid collaboration and a little laughter!

After 3 rounds and 66 questions, Team Gold won by just a smidge. Congratulations to: Captain Ellie L, J.T. T., Ben N, Iona H and Cían M. Other teammates included, from Team Green: Captain Katie W, Luke O, Gabby S, Brooke W and Olivia T, and from Team Bolt: Captain Stella P, Isabella D, Krish P, Anna J and Jack Z.
