Middle School Robotics Team Takes Home Champions Award

Middle School News

The Middle School InfoBots started their season off strong, winning the Champion’s Award at the recent FIRST LEGO League scrimmage at Oak Grove Middle School in Clearwater. This award recognizes a team that embodies the FIRST LEGO League experience by fully embracing the league’s Core Values while achieving excellence and innovation in both the Robot Game and Project. The Champion’s Award is given to the team with the best overall performance.

Because this year’s FLL challenge focuses on environmental awareness and sustainability, the InfoBots have chosen to focus on reducing the number of plastic bags used in the Shorecrest community. The INFO BOTS now challenge Shorecrest families to reduce the number of plastic bags used by participating in their plastic bag exchange program.
  • For every 50 plastic bags turned in, donors will receive a reusable cloth bag.
  • Bags may be turned in to Dr. Baralt in the Shorecrest library.
  • The plastic bags will be returned to Publix for recycling.
The plastic bag challenge is a critical component to their FIRST LEGO League experience. Please consider supporting these young engineers by participating in their plastic bag exchange.

The InfoBots continue to work on their project and robotics skills in preparation for the qualifying tournament on January 23, 2016.
