MS Robotics Move on to Regionals

Congratulations to Shorecrest Middle School LEGO Robotics Team 1448, the R2D2s, for winning Judges Award and earning a bid to the FLL Regional championship.
The qualifying tournament took place last weekend at Hillsborough Community College in Brandon. Over 20 teams competed in the event, with only 8 teams moving on to Regionals. Regionals will be held in Lakeland on January 28th.
The R2D2's are a rookie team. Their project centered around protecting manatees from boating accidents. They discovered through research that current signage does little to prevent manatee injuries/deaths. They learned that other signs which included flashing lights similar to speed signs were more effective. They are proposing that we change manatee zone signs to include lights that will be powered by solar energy.
