Annie Schneider '15 is a staff contributor to "Her Campus," a national blog with chapters at many universities. Annie attends USF's St. Petersburg campus and is studying Criminology and International Studies with a minor in Leadership. In her most recent article, Annie talks about her alternative spring break trip spent doing community service - a nod to her Service Week through the years at Shorecrest's Upper School.
“We didn’t give up our spring break. We took advantage of it.” Annie says about her five days of service work in Washington, D.C. She travelled with Break A Difference, who holds partnerships with United Way, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, YMCA, and other major non-profit entities with the intention of exposing college students to the world of community service and volunteerism. Annie spent her time with Boys & Girls Club, Food & Friends, The 6th Branch and learning about AmeriCorps and other nonprofit opportunities for post-graduates.
"She feels a strong sense of duty to serve and we are thankful to Shorecrest for nurturing that trait," comments Annie's dad, Upper School science teacher Erich Schneider.
