

State competition of Florida History Day

Six Upper School students and three Middle School students went to Tallahassee this weekend for the State competition of Florida History Day. Over 1100 student from 32 counties took over the campus of Tallahassee Community College competing with the theme "Taking a Stand in History." All six students from Shorecrest made it to the second round out of 80 other participants.
Sophomore Walker W. earned Third Place in the Senior Division Individual Performance category for his marvelous performance of "The Honestly Stubborn Man: The Trial of Peter Zenger."
Sophomores Olivia O., Jordan T., Senna P. and Dominic H. and junior Mitchell G performed a wonderful interpretation of The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire of 1911.
Grace S. performed a powerful retelling of the story of Sophie Scholl. Lilianna B. and Kirsten P. showcased their website about Mother Jones: "The Most Dangerous Woman in America" http://12562536.nhd.weebly.com/
