Varsity Golf's Last Four Matches

The Varsity Golf Chargers had a busy few weeks of matches and tournaments. On September 18, the Chargers faced Northside Christian at East Bay Golf Club. Freshman Isabella Dolan faced Northside’s Lily Latzo in a close match, losing by only one stroke 45 to 46. The boys team also posted a loss by 11 strokes, despite the low score of the day of 38 posted by Drew B. The rest of the team’s scores were: Bill B. 44, Turner B. 45, Jack W. 54, Jake D. 58, and Conner C. 65.
 
On September 22, the Varsity Boys played in the CCC Invitational Tournament at Belleair Country Club, a tournament that draws strong golf teams from around the state. Although Shorecrest did not fare well as a team, overall the individual golfers posted scores that were significantly improved from their 2017 scores at this tournament. Bill B. posted the low score for the team with a 77, followed by Turner B. 86, Drew B. 89, Jake D. 103, and Andrew C. 109.
 
On October 3, the team played Admiral Farragut Academy at Pasadena Yacht and Country Club. The entire team struggled that day, with Turner B. scoring 47, Bill B. 49, Jack W. 53, Jake D. 56 and Andrew C. 57. Isabell D. joined the boys team to play from the boys’ tees, and was playing and scoring very well from the increased distance, but had to withdraw due to illness after 4 holes.
 
On October 4, both Isabella D and the boys’ team played at the Green Devil Invitational at the Vinoy. Isabella had a good day, scoring an 85. The boys team found the course challenging, and posted a team score of 392 with the following individual scores: Bill B. 83, Turner B. 97, Andrew C. 103, Jake D. 109, and Jack W. 111.
