On Thursday, November 11, Shorecrest Upper School students gathered around the flagpole outside of the Athletic Center for a Veterans Day ceremony sponsored by the Red, White and Blue Club - a Shorecrest Upper School club.
Interim Head of Upper School, Erich Schneider, opened the ceremony with the history of Veterans Day and the acknowledgement of the special veteran in his life, reminding all of us to thank those we know who serve or have served.
Jaina Swann ‘22 introduced a guest speaker, current Shorecrest parent Major Elizabeth Eaton-Ferenzi, Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of South Florida (Army ROTC). Major Eaton-Ferenzi spoke about her military experience, the importance of commitment to service, dedication to liberty and the contributions veterans have made to our freedom.
At the end of the ceremony, students and teachers shared a moment of silence to honor those who serve or have served in the military and to remember the brave loved ones who lost their lives for our country. Ethan Bekurs ‘24 played “Taps” to accompany this moment of remembrance.
