Eighth Graders Honor Día de los Muertos

Eighth graders celebrated Día de los Muertos in Spanish classes with Señora Miller. El Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a vibrant Mexican tradition that honors deceased loved ones. It consists of two main days: Día de los Angelitos (Day of the Little Angels) on November 1, dedicated to children who have passed away; and Día de los Adultos (Day of the Adults) on November 2, to commemorate adults.

In beautiful and meaningful celebrations, families create colorful altars adorned with sugar skulls, marigold flowers, and the favorite foods of the departed, believing that the spirits return to enjoy these offerings. Students were invited to honor a deceased loved one by making sugar skulls. Grady G. '28 and Hazel N. '28 dedicated their sugar skulls to Graham F., one of our Chargers who passed last year.
